comprehensive eye exams

At Focus Eyecare your eye health is our primary concern. Your optometry examinations are an important part of comprehensive health care. Early diagnosis and treatment is key for eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and keratoconus. It is also important to monitor changes in the eye from diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain medications. We focus on whole body wellness to prevent permanent vision loss.

Specialty contact lens fittings

Dr. Vanderhoof's specialty is helping people to see with eye conditions such as Keratoconus. Those with corneal diseases, dystrophies, previous surgery, or scarring require specialty contact lens fittings.  If you've had difficulties in the past, we can help you.

CatAract surgery co-management

Dr. Vanderhoof can diagnose cataracts, monitor, or refer you for cataract surgery if needed.  We will work with the surgeon of your choice or recommend the best cataract surgeon based on your needs.  After cataract surgery, for your convenience, you will be able to return to Focus Eyecare for your follow up care to ensure proper healing and great vision.

lasik co-management

Dr. Vanderhoof completed a residency in ocular and refractive surgery in 2005 and has seen thousands of LASIK procedures.  She also completed the pre and post surgery exams. She herself had LASIK in 2008.  If you are interested in LASIK, please call our office at 615-295-8585 to set up a consultation.

school & sports eye exams

Vision, learning, and sports performance can go hand in hand.  Experts say that about 80% of what a child learns is presented visually. Through a comprehensive eye exam we may discover a small problem that can easily be resolved to improve classroom and sport performance.

Optical shop & Contact lenses

Based on the prescriptions from Dr. Vanderhoof, our highly trained staff will help you find the frames, readers, sunglasses and contact lenses that are right for you and meet your visual needs, as well as, educate you on how to use and care for your contact lenses. We're sure you'll love our fresh, independent eyewear collections and cutting edge contact lenses.

dry eye clinic

Unfortunately, if your eyes are dry, they do not get better with time.  Dry eye syndrome is a chronic problem and can lead to more severe conditions and symptoms.  Have no fear, we are here to help you. We can diagnose and treat with therapies such as prescription eye drops and punctal plugs.

Dr. Shawna quickly dialed in on my prescription while providing a thorough exam and took the time to make sure I had the contacts that fit me best. Friendly, professional, top notch!
